The epigram accompanies Markellinos' Vita Thucydidis and reacts to his statement that Anaxagoras was one of Thucydides' teachers. In the left margin, Tzetzes added another verse: 'Ξύλου παῖς ὁ Ἡρόδοτος πρότερος Θουκυδίδου'. |
