| Comment | Note the acrostic at the end and the beginning of each verse: ΕΚ ΘΕΟΥ ΝΥΝ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΣ. Mercati (1970: 453) hypothesizes that the Basil to whom the epigram is dedicated is the Emperor Basil I (867-886). |
