	Εἴ τινα πώποτ’ ἄκουσας Ἐνυαλίου φίλον υἱὸν
	καὶ κρατερὸν δυνάμει καὶ θαρσαλέον πολεμίζειν,
	Ἕκτορα τὸν Πριάμοιο νόει μοῦνον γεγενῆσθαι,
	ὅν ποτε μαρνάμενον Διομήδης ἔκτανεν ἀνήρ,
	αἴας πρὸ Τρώων Δαναοῖσι μάχην προφέροντα,
	ὃν καὶ τῇδε θανόντα τάφος ὅδε ἀμφικαλύπτει.

Translation(s)	If thou didst ever hear of a certain dear son of Ares, both powerful in bodily strength and bold in fight, think it was none other than Hector, son of Priam, whom once the husband of Diomede slew in combat, as he made war on the Greeks for the land of the Trojans, and whom in death this tomb here covers.
