Truly this is the book of Songs.
It brings the highest glory to the scribe,
God-written grace to the owner,
an honorable heart to those who learn from it,
a most pious mind to the beholders,
and the assistance of the Holy Ghost to the singers of its Song.

The epigram also occurs in Vat. Palat. gr. 367 (f. 139r), but not as a paratext on the Psalter (ed. Constantinides - Browning 1993: 155).
Constantinides-Browning (1993: 155) attributes the poem to John Geometres, but it is not clear on which evidence this is based. |
